What is a Certified Pedorthist?
A Certified Pedorthist, or C. Ped for short, is an individual who has the professional qualifications to assess foot conditions, recommend and custom fit footwear, cast and custom make corrective foot orthoses and shoes if necessary. This individual has to have met rigorous educational and training requirements, served under another licensed or Certified Practitioner, and taken and passed the National Pedorthic Exam. Certified Pedorthists are recognized as the most qualified practitioners for proper shoe fit and modification.
Why is proper shoe fit important?
The human anatomy is an engineering marvel and designed to function perfectly without the assisstance of external influences, i.e. clothes and shoes. Obviously, we have adapted our appearance to be socially acceptable and have sought to improve anatomical function through the use of garments and of course shoes for our feet. However, if these improvements, i.e. shoes, are not properly matched to each of our very different anatomical structures, the result is usually painful and can greatly diminish our natural abilities to walk, run, dance, etc..
We endeavor to educate each customer in the proper fit, use and care of footwear for improved function and usability....the more you know about our products, the better they will serve you.
We pride ourselves on having the best selection of moderate to high-end footwear and accessories available today......and each item is professionally custom fit to each customer.
